A FULL CABIN SOLUTION

Two Builders, One Vision

Your favourite prefabricated cabin company and your favourite kitchen company are coming together to create a seamless interior solution for your System 03 cabin. Every component is pre-designed, prefabricated, and shipped directly to your build site, making it simple to plan, easy to install, and thoughtfully crafted from the very first sketch.

The Backcountry Hut Company

Your Exterior Solution

We provides the full structural system, including an engineered timber frame and foundations, along with wall and floor panels made from a prefabricated insulated panel system. The package also includes the building envelope and glazing, such as windows, doors, and exterior cladding.

Your Interior Solution

Swede Kitchens

Our partners, Swede provides a complete interior solution, including casework and shower enclosures with three finish options specifically designed for A-frame geometry. They also supply fixtures and appliances in three tiers, all shipped directly to the site. Interior lighting is included, with the exact scope to be determined.

Swede Kitchens

Swede creates bespoke, Canadian-made cabinetry through a network of independent design studios. Trusted by homeowners and builders across North America, they make planning a dream kitchen straightforward, collaborative, and enjoyable, with over 1,000 kitchens designed and delivered.

  • Every detail of your Swede kitchen has been designed around the specific geometry of the BHC System 03 cabin. Upper cabinets follow the A-frame roofline, panels sit flush with ceiling finishes, and all cabinetry is custom-fit to the millimetre — so nothing is an afterthought.

  • A place of calm. The Swede bathroom vanity is designed as a single, integrated unit - a floating console with concealed storage that brings a sense of order to even the most compact bathroom.

The shower enclosure is pre-engineered to integrate with BHC's wall panel system, ensuring a watertight seal and clean finish with no on-site custom work.

  • Beyond the kitchen and bath, Swede's interior package considers the entire living experience. Custom nook cabinetry, integrated storage, and MEP closet solutions keep utilities organized and out of sight.

Every detail is considered - from the way a drawer glides to the alignment of panels with the ceiling line. This is Scandinavian design thinking applied to backcountry living.

 Frequently Asked Questions

  • Absolutely. BHC's design philosophy is rooted in sustainability, and that runs through everything we do as the UK manufacturer. The structural and cladding timbers we use are Grown in Britain and FSC-certified.  We source timber from within 30-40miles of our workshops, utilising the exceptional quality materials that grow here in the north east of Scotland.  Indeed, if we work together we will invite you to the forest to see the trees that will become your project.  And because we operate our own sawmill, we have full traceability over our supply chain from the log through to the finished component. The prefabricated insulated panel system minimises waste in production, the groundscrew foundation approach protects the land your cabin sits on, and the buildings themselves are designed to be highly energy efficient — well suited to year-round use in the British climate.
